Welcome to California Heights, the largest historic district in the city of Long Beach, California.

In December of 1927, California Heights and Chateau Thierry organized the California Heights-Chateau Thierry Improvement Association to petition the City of Long Beach for paved streets, sidewalks, curbs and ornamental lighting.

Reformed in the 1980s during the neighborhood's efforts to down-zone and declare California Heights a historic district, the CHNA is now one of the most active neighborhood associations in Long Beach. Comprised entirely of volunteers, we are a nonprofit organization working to protect and preserve historic and architectural resources in the California Heights Historic District.

Where is Cal Heights?

The California Heights historic district is bordered by Bixby Road to the North, Wardlow Road to the South, Cherry Avenue to the East and busy Atlantic Avenue to the West.
